“When Kurt Cobain was alive he was known as the mysterious, quiet rocker. When he died he was known as a depressed drug addict. Kurt Cobain didn’t use drugs because the drugs used him. I don’t think anyone who knew him personally saw him the way the media portrayed him. Did the media ever mention that after a show was over he would sit in the tour bus and write back fan mail? He would try to answer at least thirty letters a night. In 1993, the media never reported the story of Kurt Cobain visiting a fan who wrote him [Kurt Cobain] a letter and asked him to come see her before she died of Cancer. They [the media] never forgot to remind everyone that he had demons though. Don’t listen to what you might have heard from the media. Kurt Cobain loved every single fan he had. He just couldn’t deal with being put on a pedestal that he was constantly afraid of falling off of.”

I agree with this about media in general. When you’re growing up you’re accustomed to hearing and watching and reading “the news”, you don’t question its credibility. The problem with media is it’s not necessarily untrue (except for Fox News) but selectively biased. Some stations with political biases and others with content bias. You may hear about something like the Boston Bombing (which was a tragedy, do not get me wrong) all week, but the other hundreds of thousands who died, many in similarly violent ways, just do not get reported. There’s actually even a local bias in my city of Toronto. Typically “ghetto” places always get a bad rep for violence and stuff, but an attempted rape happened in my neighbourhood. My friend’s friend’s apartment got broken into by a rapist who was known to be on the loose. I don’t remember exactly what happened because I wasn’t there, but they warned the slightly richer neighouring street of a rapist and said nothing about that in my lower-income apartment area, even though the crime happened on my street. They tried reporting it but no action was taken and it didn’t even get a mention in the local news. It’s as if they expect crime to happen in lower-income areas and take care of itself, but they don’t wanna report it because it’s not a famous  or “dangerous” ghetto like Jane and Finch or Scarborough. Just a quiet area with low-rise apartments and families where unless you or someone you know is involved in it, you have no idea of what’s really happening. This is unrelated to Kurt Cobain I’m sorry

“Compassion hurts. When you feel connected to everything, you also feel responsible for everything. And you cannot turn away. Your destiny is bound with the destinies of others. You must either learn to carry the Universe or be crushed by it. You must grow strong enough to love the world, yet empty enough to sit down at the same table with its worst horrors.”

  5. Got this pedal this week and finally got around to uploading some pics. Bought this for mainly bass as I don’t currently own a guitar and chorus on bass is probably the most fun-sounding thing ever. I’m also gonna do a bass demo of it soon. Last pic is my band’s collection of pedals thus far (we’re called Endorsement).

  6. Californication era is really really one of my fave RHCP eras like the lyrics, the raw music, the light funk, Anthony’s blonde hair, solid but underrated drumming, those simple ass but emotional as fuck guitar chords, John in general, vocals, FLEA, summer vibes, those mohawks, Savior/This Velvet Glove, all the singles, Road Trippin, B-SIDES esp the drumming on those, I cant
